CATHOLIC HARVEST FOOD PANTRY
The Catholic Harvest Food
Pantry operates from the building located at 628 E. Market St. in the City
of York. A local York family contributed a significant amount of money to
help us purchase this facility. Since 1996, the four York Catholic
Churches of St. Joseph, St. Mary, St. Patrick and St. Rose support the
Food Pantry. Each month, one of the parishes conducts a food drive, which
represents approximately 60% of the food we distribute. The remaining 40%
comes to us through the York County Food Bank.
In addition, the four
parishes help financially with special envelopes and collections
specifically for the operation of the Food Pantry. The Catholic Harvest
Food Pantry has grown to be the largest Food Pantry in York County. In
year 2000, over 16,000 men, women and children came to our door requesting
emergency food.
The Food Pantry operates
Monday through Friday evenings and also distributes food on the 1st and
3rd Thursday mornings. We are fortunate to have over 150 volunteers
committed to the Food Pantry.
Over the years, we have
been blessed with food and monetary contributions from many local
churches, schools, scout troops and businesses. During the past six
months, we are now offering clothing items to our clients and their
families. This extra service is greatly appreciated by those in need.
