Liturgy of the Word with Children

What is the Liturgy of the Word with Children?

The Liturgy of the Word with Children (LWWC) happens during the 5:00, 8:30, and 10:30 Masses each weekend. Children ages 4 through second grade are invited to participate.

Adult and student volunteers assist with this ministry for the Mass of their choice, usually once a month. Youth Protection Clearances are required. A leader schedule is prepared biannually. Leaders are supplied with the materials necessary to lead their group. Children are divided into two groups according to age. Two leaders are assigned to each group.

Children are dismissed from the assembly before the Liturgy of the Word to hear and reflect on the readings at their level of understanding. They return to the assembly in time for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
