Is the Lord calling you to pursue as deeper relationship with Him?
Could Christ be calling you to a vocation as a Secular Franciscan?
We are Catholic men and women from several parishes around the Diocese of Harrisburg, people you encounter every day. We are not a club or society. Some of us are married, some are single. We have homes, jobs, families and friends, but we share our faith journey as secular members of an INTERNATIONAL ORDER founded by St. Francis of Assisi more than 800 years ago. We strive to live each day according to a Franciscan Rule first approved by Pope Innocent III, with the Gospel as our guide and our focus on Jesus Christ.
UPCOMMING EVENT
On Friday evening, February 18th, St. Joseph Fraternity will receive a new member at a special 7 p.m. Mass in the parish chapel. Joyce Manno, a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, will make her permanent profession as a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. The fraternity would like to invite all parishioners to attend this special celebration of commitment of faith. A simple reception will follow in the St. Francis Room.
The Secular Franciscan Order is an international group of Catholic men and women just like you. Some of us are single, others are married. We have jobs, homes, families and friends, and live everyday lives in the secular world. But each day, we attempt to follow a Franciscan Rule of Life, written by St. Francis of Assisi and approved by Pope innocent III more than 800 years ago. We use the Gospel as our guide, Jesus Christ as our focus, and St. Francis as our example. If you would like to know more about the order, feel free to join us on February 18th or contact the Fraternity Minister, Bob Altland at rhaltland@juno.com.
