But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel. I, the Lord, have created you. I who formed the earth, the oceans and the land, the sun and the stars, and millions and millions of people, created YOU. I created you. I brought you out of nothingness into life. I breathed the very breath of life into you. I created you. I created YOU. I made you, you. I wanted YOU to be part of my creation. I wanted YOU: to be alive, to be who you are, with your talents and gifts, with your hair and eyes and facial features; with your hands and body, and within your family. I, the Lord of Life…created you.
I have formed you, O Israel. I have been forming you from your very first moments of life. I have been watching over you—caring for you…providing for you…keeping my hand ever beside you—each and every day of your life. I formed you through the early years of your childhood. I watched you begin school…run and play. I formed you as you began getting a little older, making your own decisions. I formed you through your struggles and joys, hopes, and dreams. I have been forming you in your journey that led you here—to this place—at this time. I have been with you in your questions and insights. I have truly formed you.
Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. Do not be afraid, for I am always with you. I know your name—it is written in the palm of my hand. I knew you even from the time you were formed in your mother’s womb. I know what you think and feel. I know you—and you know me. You are mine. Your heart and your spirit will always find rest in me—for you are mine.
I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Sheba in return for you. You are worth everything to me. You are so valued. Why? Simply because you are precious in my eyes and because I love you. I see how glorious you truly are; I see the goodness in your heart and all that you give to others; I see your hopes and your dreams and your love. You are precious—you are really invaluable to me. What does it mean to you if someone is precious? You prize them and gently hold them. I say to you, you are precious in my eyes.
Because I love you I want you to know how much I love you. I love you as you are. You don’t have to be different: heavier or thinner, taller or shorter, or more patient or less angry. I LOVE YOU! I love you because I understand you—your hurts, your struggles, your concerns, and your motives. I know your hopes and dreams. I love you. Never forget this. I LOVE YOU!
