We try to accomodate all people who wish to come and worship with us. In that light, St. Joseph Parish has worked to provide accomodations for parishioners with disabilities.
Parking Spaces
There are specially designated disabled parking spaces available at Saint Joseph Church. We kindly ask that only Parishioners with special needs utilize these designated parking spaces.
The front, rear, and East-side entrances are accessible for Parishioners with special needs. The York Rabbit Transit bus stops at the East-side entrance. Parishioners with specific questions should contact the Church Office at 717-755-7503.
Seating
This guideline is to explain the procedures for seating Parishioners with disabilities and to assure, whenever possible, that parishioners with disabilities or wheelchair accessible needs will have a choice of seating locations. Whenever possible, parishioners with disabilities will be seated adjacent to companions. In fairness to the greatest number of parishioners requiring wheelchair accessible seating, companion seating in those areas will be limited to one companion for each wheelchair user.
Parishioners requesting to receive Holy Communion at their pew are asked to sit in the seating area that is adjacent to the choir, or in designated seating in the rear of the church. The Parish Staff is committed to working with Parishioners on a case-by-case basis to adequately accommodate individual needs.
NOTE: Parishioners requesting to receive Holy Communion at their pew are asked to sit in the seating area that is designated seating in the rear of the church.
Listening Systems
An assisted listening system has been installed in St. Joseph Church to augment the specific needs of hearing-impaired parishioners. The system provides a signal which can be received directly by individuals with special receivers or their own hearing devices. Parishioners that are in need of an assisted listening device should contact the Church Office at 717-755-7503 for additional information.
The Sunday 10:30am mass welcomes hearing-impaired Parishioners with the signing of the Liturgy using American Sign Language.
