After teaching, and
serving as an administrator for a combined 23 years at
Catholic Schools in the Lancaster Deanery, I was led west,
to St. Joseph School, in 2004, by the grace of the Holy
Spirit. My last four years here have been very rewarding as
I have been able to “stretch my learning” to the middle
school level, after having spent most of my teaching career
in Kindergarten and First Grade. The discovery that I have
made here is that regardless of age, children are warm
individuals who have a deep thirst for learning. I have
made it my vocation to assist the children in my charge to
work hard at developing their skills, to create in
themselves a life-long love of learning. As a strong
proponent of Catholic Schools, that learning includes a deep
understanding and love for the presence of Our Lord, Jesus
Christ in each of their lives.
When I am not teaching
first grade at SJY, I am assisting
children in my home parish of St. Peter’s in Columbia, to
learn of God’s great love for them, as the Coordinator of
Religious Education there. I also dedicate many hours to
studying all I can to improve my own knowledge of education.
God has given me many
blessings, of which my husband and our four wonderful
children are the greatest! We stay busy at our house
attending activities that involve our children, even though
they are grown! Our boys are avid baseball players here in
York County’s Susquehanna League, just like their dad, years
ago! When they are not playing, Gordie is studying to be
teacher at Millersville University, Phil manages an Irish
pub in Lancaster and the youngest, Thom, is a senior at
Lancaster Catholic High School. Our daughter, Kelli is busy
attending Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, studying to be
an Early Childhood teacher.
Life is Good!
