What Is Scrip?
Scrip is a program that encourages people to purchase gift certificates from participating merchants at face value. Each merchant provides a "Rebate Percentage" (which varies from merchant-to-merchant, from 2% to 25% of the value). 45% goes to the family's account, 45% of the percentage goes to the school, and 10% goes toward administrative costs.

How Scrip Generates Revenue for You
Scrip is gift cards that are purchased from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. We buy the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sell the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount ‑ from two to 15 percent or more – is how you get free tuition money.

How to Order Scrip
     1. Parents can fill out a SCRIP order form and send it to school on Monday mornings with payment in a clearly marked envelope ("SCRIP").
     2. Everyone can order SCRIP before/after Mass on Saturday evenings or before/after Mass on Sundays.
     3. On Line Ordering.

Ordering Online
Now you can order your Scrip in your pajamas, 2 o’clock in the morning, on your lunch break. Just go to www.Shopwithscrip.com. After you enroll, use the Enrollment Code: 944E9217455 for St. Joseph School. There you can place your order any time up to Sunday evening, for the following Monday’s ordering. It’s as easy as that. No more standing in line in the church or school lobby. Your orders will be ready for Friday pickup, or can be sent home with one of your children.

Payments
Cash and checks are the most preferred method of payment. However, we do accept Visa and Mastercard. Although credit cards are accepted, the cost per transaction may cancel out any discount with that merchant. The 10% Administration Fee does not cover all these fees. Here’s an excerpt from the GLSC Scrip Advisor newsletter.

"Credit card fees are a great deal for the bank, but a bad deal for your non-profit. On average, 40% of your profit goes away with credit card transactions. That means your organization is paying for those airline miles and rebates."

Orders Ready/Pick Up
SCRIP orders are submitted each Monday (unless there is a Monday holiday), and are available for pickup Fridays. Orders placed before/after Mass are available before/after Mass the following weekend, or the next Friday. (You need to please ask for this option when placing your order on the weekend) SCRIP orders can be sent home with your child on Fridays if the SCRIP coordinator has your signed permission to do so.
