School Lunch and Breakfast Menu

St .Joseph School adheres to the nutritional standards of The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP). The kitchen staff prepares nutritionally balanced meals with kid friendly appeal. The goal of our cafeteria is to provide meals that are minimally processed, lower in sodium, sugar and additives, while increasing whole grains, fruits, dark green vegetables and legumes.
Breakfast is served daily from 7:30am to 7:55 am. Students may choose from reduced sugar cereal or a whole grain muffin, fruit, yogurt and a variety of low fat milks and Orange juice. The cost is $1.00. Additional servings are not available. If a student arrives later than 7:55 am and needs breakfast, he/she should notify a teacher or the kitchen manager on duty.
Lunch, as mandated by the Nation School Lunch Program, includes meat or a meat alternative, vegetables, fruit, whole grain bread or alternative and low fat or fat free milk. Orange juice and water are also available. Children must choose a minimum of three items offered. Every lunch has a hot or cold (sandwich) offering. Every effort is made to provide fresh fruit and vegetables, and minimally processed menu choices. Cost of lunch is $2.15 with a drink. Students in grades five and six may purchase an additional meal at $2.15 or a portion of a meal - ala carte at $1.75. Extra milk is available for 45 cents and water for 65 cents.

National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program
St. Joseph School participates in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Students from families who qualify (under federal guidelines) will receive lunch and breakfast either free or at a reduced cost. Applications are available from the Administrative Manager or by applying online through COMPASS https://www.humanservices.state.pa.us/compass/CMHOM.aspx. Applications may be filed at any time throughout the school year for any family experiencing net income changes. All information is confidential; discrimination is not permitted in accordance with state and federal requirements.
