Registration Dates
Registration for new child will take place after re-registration of current student body and siblings. This will occur in the Spring. Specific dates will be published in the church bulletin or may be obtained by calling the School Office.
Age of the Child
To be eligible for admission, the child must be the following age by September 1st of the year of enrollment: Pre-K Three-year old program - 3 years old; Pre-K Four-year old program - 4 years old; Kindergarten - 5 years old; First Grade - 6 years old.
Admission Priorities
Admission to St. Joseph School (SJS) will be on a space-available basis according to the following priorities:
- Currently enrolled students and their siblings
- Members of St. Joseph Parish
- Members of other churches in the York Community
Class Size
To encourage maximum learning opportunities, the number of students in each grade will be limited. When necessary, grades will be closed to new students to maintain appropriate class sizes.
Required Immunizations
Students entering K/1st grade need the required vaccines: Varicella, 4 doses of Diphtheria/Tetanus (4th dose after 4th birthday); 3 Polio; 2 each of Measles, Mumps, Rubella given at age 1 year or older (preferably given as Measles, Mumps, Rubella), 3 Hepatitis B. New students in all other grades need: Varicella, 3 doses of Diphtheria/Tetanus; 3 Polio; 1 each Measles, Mumps, Rubella given at age 1 year or older preferably given as Measles, Mumps, Rubella. These requirements are subject to change according to prevailing PA Department of Health guidelines.
Necessary Documents
Parents must bring the following to school registration: birth certificate, baptismal certificate (unless baptized at St. Joseph Church, York), and proof of immunizations.
